Microfluidizer® high shear fluid processors are the gold standard in nano-enabled applications for uniform particle size reduction, cell disruption and bottom-up nanoparticle creation – with scaleup guaranteed.
Particle Size Reduction
There are several ways to reduce large particles into smaller ones - but Microfluidizer high shear fluid processors stand alone in their ability to achieve uniform target particle sizes on the nano-scale. The exclusive difference is the fixed-geometry interaction chamber, the heart of the Microfluidizer processor, which exposes product to consistent shear levels with repeatable results.
TINY PARTICLES, BIG RESULTS
As depicted below, product is input into a reservoir which supports high solid content. A high pressure pump generates forces up to 40,000 psi (2578 bar) in order to force the product stream into precisely engineered microchannels within the unique interaction chamber. Because of the ability to control shear rates, the smallest pressure required is typically used. Once inside the chamber, product is exposed to consistent and intense impact and shear forces and then is immediately cooled. This repeatable process results in tiny particles with a uniform distribution. Customers leverage applications and nanotechnology expertise with Process Development Consulting to optimize formulations where appropriate. Scaleup performance from lab to production is guaranteed.
